Keyamo said nobody should go to any state offices of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, to register for the 774,000 jobs, he explained that the selection would be done at local government levels and not at NDE state offices.
The government has, however, officially begun the recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians across the country’s 774 local government areas into the programme.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has warned Nigerians to disregard messages directing them to register for the Special Public Works because the selection will be done from LGA to LGA, not in States’ NDE offices.
NDE helps to identify business opportunities and to stimulate the interest of all categories of the unemployed persons (School leavers, Graduates of tertiary institutions, Retirees, People with special needs etc.) for employment and wealth creation.
POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that the federal government had set up the progamme which will engage some Nigerians in carrying out public services such as street sweeping, waste disposal, road maintenance, and others.
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) was established in November 1986. It began operations fully in January 1987. The birth of the Directorate was predicated on the effects of the economic recession
According to the government, the State Selection Committees have been inaugurated & have commenced work. He tweeted: “Kindly disregard all messages directing people to go to NDE offices to register for the Special Public Works because such directives would breach the social distancing and other COVID-19 precautionary guidelines.
This will breach COVID-19 guidelines and it will not ensure we strictly achieve 1000 per LGA.
