In Nigeria, every year NYSC board dispatch about 200,000 youth corp members every year and just 10% of them get good employment. Others join the unemployed population.

In 2018, NNPC, released a job vacancy notice with eligibility for only graduates of 2014 downwards, but not still minding the restrictions which was supposed to reduce the number of applicants, guess what? About 25.5 million people applied. This is laughable, if old graduates have not gotten jobs, what is the hope of the new ones?

It baffles me to see students going to school just to read and pass their courses and graduate, which was exactly what their predecessors did and ended up unemployed and almost hopeless.

a professor said and I quote “madness is defined as one doing something the same way but expecting a different result.
thus “if what this professor said about madness is true then we all as students seated in this hall are all mad”. How do you expect not to be unemployed just like your predecessors when you are doing exactly the same thing they did.

As a student, you must think outside the box. Go to school with a difference. Stop thinking about the company that will employ you, think about the company you can create through the course you are studying.

There is no job anywhere. Ask, and job hunters will tell you better. Don’t ever think that your case will be different when you are doing nothing different. Life is not based on serendipity but practicality.

The problem is not just the Government, the youths are fast becoming less creative and innovative. They are becoming clueless.
