The BBC Step Into Tech training course is the ideal opportunity for women wanting to move into a career in Software Engineering. This in-depth course provides the fundamental skills needed to kick start a career in the sector.
This course is ideal for women who may be returning to work after a break, college leavers and career changers; anyone that is motivated for a career in software Engineering but need to learn the core skills first.
BBC is offering a free 14-week Software Engineering Training Course for women. Please interested candidate should apply, No tech experience needed. Apply by July 5th.
Training Time-table
This 14 week programme delivered in partnership with our external training provider, will incorporate a full immersive week, followed by evening sessions covering front end and back end development, ending on a project delivery of your choice. The course will be delivered onsite at the BBC.

The curriculum will deliver the most up to date technologies, with practical applications, all of which will be underpinned by core personal development sessions for your success. Please note: The immersive week will run each day starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm, followed by one evening per week which will be Thursday evening 630 until 9pm. It is important to note that there will also be approximately 10 hours extra homework per week on top of that.
Curriculum:
Immersive week: An overview of the tech industry, understanding the fundamentals of computer science, developing problem solving skills.
Front end – to include HTML, CSS, responsive design and an introduction to React
Back end – Introduction to cloud (AWS), databases and backend technologies
Project – Have the ability to apply learning to personally create a project application
All underpinned by ongoing personal development
There will be continued support throughout the course.

You must be motivated for a career in Software Engineering and demonstrate the qualities that make a great software engineer. This course will be challenging, but you will get the support you need throughout. You’ll need to be committed to the training, and be able to manage your time to complete the pre-course work.

Package Description
Upon successful completion of the programme all participants will have the opportunity to apply for an Associate Software Engineer role within BBC Design + Engineering
APPLICATION PROCESS INFORMATION
You will first complete a questionnaire and you will also need to upload your most upto date CV.
Once all completed applications have been received we will then send you a coding exercise to try. (You are not expected to complete all of these exercises but we would just like you to give them a go)
We will then be looking to hold a Discovery Evening event, which will give you the opportunity to come in and get further insight into the scheme. We will also try and answer any questions that you have about the scheme. (We understand that not all applicants we will be able to attend this event, therefore it will not go against you if you cannot attend this event)
If you fully completed your application and meet all of the requirements for the scheme, we will then send you an email which will have a video interview link on it, for you to complete. You will have visibility of the questions and will have time to prep your answers before recording them. (Please make sure you have access to a computer or laptop which has a camera on it for you to complete this stage successfully)
The scheme managers will assess your video interviews and will decide who will make it through to the face to face interview stage.
If you are successful you will be invited to a face to face interview in one of our London offices.
Once all interviews have been conducted we will notify you of the outcome, this could take upto a few weeks.
